Excellent elongation
Metals are bonded by electrons that move around between atoms, or free electrons. In general, the binding by free electrons is weak, and the atomic position can be shifted relatively easily. However, in other bindings (ionic bond, covalent binding, etc.), the binding force is large, and it is difficult to shift the atomic position. This is the reason why metals show higher ductility than resins, ceramics, etc.
Although aluminum is a material with good workability, by highly purifying it, it is possible to suppress the formation of a compound with a strong binding force that acts as a resistance during deformation to obtain even higher elongation. We have various alloys based on high-purity aluminum with enhanced workability.
Customer value
- The degree of freedom in design can be increased.
- It is less likely to crack during molding.
