Low compounds
The purity of normal aluminum is 99.7%, and about 0.3% of Si, Fe, and Cu are contained as unavoidable impurities. These impurities are derived from bauxite, which is the raw material of aluminum, alumina, and the electrolytic bath and electrodes for molten salt electrolysis. These impurities are present in aluminum as a solid solution or intermetallics (e.g., Al-Fe intermetallics). By highly purifying aluminum, the amount of element impurities is reduced. This can reduce the density of intermetallics.
