PPAB (Pre-plated Busbars)

For PPAB, we add a newly-developed surface treatment to a highly-conductive aluminum base material, creating a new high-performance conductive material that is able to replace copper and realizes all the performance requirements of a conductive material at a reduced price.

Characteristics

1. Lower weight
・The weight of the product is around 50% lower than that of a copper product. *When the cross-sectional area of the aluminum busbar is considered to be twice that of the copper busbar.

2. Reduced cost
・A significant cost reduction can be expected against a copper product.
*This may vary depending on the product specifications and volume of use.

3. Low contact resistance
・The aluminum busbars offer low contact resistance, enabling stable electrical contact; in addition, their environmental resistance performance will hold up to long-term use.

4. Bending workability
・The busbars can be subjected to bending for finishing without major cracks occurring. * The minimum internal R indicated by JIS H4000 for aluminum base materials is necessary for bending finishing.

5. Laser welding
・The aluminum busbars also offer excellent laser weldability. They are able to form a stable bead at lower power than the aluminum base material.

6. Solder wettability
・Excellent solder wettability makes the products suited to solder applications where zero cross time (T0) is approximately two seconds.

Recommended Aluminum Base Materials

We offer a variety of alloys to function as base materials for PPAB, including the 6000 series alloy E601-T6, which realizes an excellent balance between conductivity and strength.
